Quality, variety, social and environmental commitment. These are the basis of Centrais de Abastecimento de Campinas S.A (Ceasa-Campinas), a company that belongs to Campinas City Hall. It is the fourth Brazilian commercial center and the second of São Paulo State where there is also the Biggest Permanent Market in Latin America of Flowers and Ornamental Plants. It is located on one of the most important highways of the country, D. Pedro I; it is 100 km far from São Paulo City with an access to the main interstate highways and to Viracopos airport. Ceasa’s area is 500 thousand square meters and has 964 retailers with a wide variety and a complete mix of horticulture products, cereals, landscaping and gardening tools and decoration.
The company was founded in 1972 and started operations in 1975. The company grew in a planned way offering an adequate infra-structure: large parking lot for more than 3200 cars, indoor loading and unloading docks, banking network and support services, restaurants and cafeterias, 24-hours security service with cameras and technological and modern resources, power generator that covers 100% of the warehouse need, perfect hygiene and cleaning. It receives goods from over 700 localities in Brazil and overseas and supplies products to around 500 districts.
Besides the markets management, Ceasa has a social and environmental role: it is responsible for Campinas food safety policy developing with other municipal bodies several projects such as school food, Food Bank, communitarian vegetable gardens, selective trash, and recycling, etc. With more than 15 thousand visitors per day, Ceasa generates around 5300 direct employments and 20000 indirect ones.
